COUNTDOWN TO WORLD YOUTH DAY 2008 Avviso was on hand when the symbols of the world’s largest youth event – the World Youth Day Cross and Icon of Our Lady – touched down in Australia on July 1 ahead of a day of welcome celebrations in Sydney. Officially welcomed from New Zealand by Prime Minister John Howard, NSW Premier Morris Iemma, and hundreds of Australian youth, clergy and laity, the arrival of the Cross and Icon heralds the countdown to World Youth Day in Australia next July. Around 500,000 people are expected to take part when Sydney hosts the XXIII World Youth Day from 15-20 July 2008. FIRST SIX STAR GREEN STAR BUILDING LAUNCHED IN NSWAvviso was pleased to launch the General Property Trust’s workplace6 this year. It is New South Wales’s first speculative commercial building aiming for a 6 Star Green Star certified rating. Planning Minister Frank Sartor helped turn the turf as construction started on the joint development by Citta Property Group and the GPT Group on the waterfront at Pyrmont. The development will set a global benchmark in environmental and sustainable features for new office development.
